DESCRIPTION
FAIRSEAL R is a two-part joint
sealant based on a liquid polysulphide polymer
supplied in correct proportion which, when mixed
together, cure to form a fairly stiff rubber
like material. When cured, sealant exhibits
excellent adhesion to most surfaces including
concrete, glass, aluminium and stainless steel.
It is to be used for the highest performance in
sealing expansion joints where large movements
anticipated in concrete construction and for
joints between diverse construction materials.
FAIRSEAL R has superior joint movement
accommodation with strong adhesion to most
building materials. It is chemically resistance
to water, oils, solvents etc.
APPARATUS
Electrically operated drill with
paddle attachment
Container
Cello Tap
Steel Spatula
Back up materials (Rod)
Wire Brush
Sealant gun
SURFACE
PREPARATION
-› All
joint surface should be thoroughly cleaned with
brush and then with
water & should be allowed to dry.
-› Stains
of oil and grease should be removed by wire
brushing and use
FM-DEGREASER.
-› FM
DEGREASER is solvent based cleaner and
degreaser, which easily
removes stains of oil and grease.
-› Stick
celotape strip on both the side throughoht the
length of joint to get
perfect finish on sides of joint.
-› Apply
a coat of FAIRSEAL PRIMER on both sides of
joints, which gives
very strong electronic bond between joint and
sealer. .
MIXING AND
APPLICATION
-› FAIRSEAL
R is supplied in two parts containing base and
hardener
prepacked in
correct proportion.
-› For
mixing of base and hardener, first the base is
taken in container
and hardener is
added slowly in base and is mixed with
electrically
operated drill
machine with paddle attachment until uniform
colour is
obtained. Hand
mixing is not recommended even for smaller
quantity.
-› The
mixing of base and hardener should be done
thoroughly because
many times failure
of sealant occurs due to improper mixing of
components.
-› Before
application of FAIRSEAL R, FAIRSEAL PRIMER
should be dry
initially.
-› After
proper mixing of FAIRSEAL R, it should be filled
in joints drawing a
flat tool like
stainless steel spatula.
-› For
better finishing of SEALANT, it is recommended
to draw stainless
steel spatula
coated with kerosene.
-› FAIRSEAL
dries out in 7 to 9 hrs.
-› The
quantity of FAIRSEAL R required per running
metre is calculated by
following
equation.
Quantity = (1.6x bxd)/1000 kg. per running metre
Where b = width of joing in mm
d = depth of joint in mm
