Non metallic is an industry term which implies
that the material is free from iron and any
other corrosion – susceptible metals or alloys.
These non-metallic materials are derived from
either metal processing operations, or occur
naturally, as complex Oxides, Silicates,
Carbides. Thus Aluminium Oxide is non-metallic,
but is clearly derived from a metal.
FAIRTOP STD range of surface
hardener is non-metallic in character in the
sense that the materials will not corrode or
degrade in a cementitious matrix, not
withstanding any evidence of magnetic
properties.
FAIRTOP STD is a carborandum base
flooring compound which is supplied in powder
form and is to be sprinkled on wet concrete
roughly when the concrete floor is touch dry and
has to be Trowel finished.
FAIRTOP STD is supplied as ready
to use factory dry shake cementitious system
blended with special aggregates selected for
high abrasion and wear resistance and
additives. FAIRTOP STD is used to obtain a
dense, tough, abrasion resistant industrial
floor with non-dusty and non-slip
characteristics. It has a good resistant to
penetration of oil, water etc.
FAIRTOP STD is ideally suited for
all industrial areas subject to the heaviest
traffic, i.e. loading bays, trucking lanes, car
parks, workshops, machine shops ramps and
spillways. It has good resistance to oils and
greases. FAIRTOP STD cures monolithically to
provide a dense, non-porous surface, which is
extremely hard-wearing and abrasion resistant.
Being a non-metallic FAIRTOP STD provides a
non-slip surface, which will never rust.
PROPERTIES OF
FAIRTOP STD:
Abrasion resistance : FAIRTOP
STD has been tested with FUNDITOR ABRASION
MACHINE using Silicon Carbide Wheels. The
sample was tested for 10,000 revs at a fixed
speed and the amount of wear assessed by
measuring the depth of the groove by abrasion
wheels at four points around the perimeter. The
results show that FAIRTOP STD improves the
abrasion resistance compared to grano by over
150%.
Compressive Strength : FAIRTOP
STD cubes when tested for compressive strength
have typical strength of over 600 kg/cm2
at 28 days. Mho’s scale hardness of FAIRTOP STD
aggregates between 7 to 8 scale.
FAIRTOP STD
can be used for reducing the lighting
requirements in industrial applications and
hence save on energy cost in the long term. It
is available in different colours as per your
requirement.
COMPARISON OF
NORMAL CONCRETE FLOOR & FLOOR WITH FAIRTOP STD
TOPPING

NORMAL CONCRETE FLOOR |
CONCRETE FLOOR WITH FAIRTOP STD TOPPINGS |
|
1 |
Prior to
Pouring it needs site mixing may lead to
poor concrete. |
Final hard
wearing coating of floor is been done by
spreading dry powder over green concrete
produces hard durable floor finish.
|
|
2 |
Final finished
surface will withstand impact and abrasion
load at certain limit only. |
Very good
resistant to impact & abrasion almost 5
times more than that of normal concrete.
|
|
3 |
Needs frequent
repairing and maintenance as it gets damaged
frequently. |
Being a hard
wearing floor topping does not need
maintenance for longer period. |
|
4 |
At due course
of time top floor finish starts to develop
dust. |
Does not get
damaged by abrasion, hence the dust
formation eliminates. |
|
5 |
Regular
cleaning makes the surface smooth leads to
formation of slippery surface. |
Withstands the
regular cleaning hence no slippery surface
get developed. |
|
6 |
If not
properly compacted top surface becomes
porous leads to penetration of water. |
After
finishing top surface becomes dense & non
porous hence produces waterproof floor.
|
|
7 |
Pourous
Surface may leads to rusting of steel
reinforcement bars. |
Non-metallic
floor hardener does not allow water to
penetrate. |
