FAIRSEAL R is a premium grade two part polysulphide sealant conforming to BS-5212: for pavements.

USES

FAIRSEAL R specially designed for usage of concrete highways.

DESCRIPTION

FAIRSEAL R is a two-part joint sealant based on a liquid polysulphide polymer. It is supplied in 1 Kg. & 5 Kg. tins containing a base component and Hardner (curing agent) in the correct proportion which, when mixed together, cure to form a fairly stiff rubber-like material. When cured, the sealant exhibits, excellent adhesion to most surfaces including concrete, glass, aluminium and stainless steel. It is to be used for the highest performance in sealing expansion joints where large movements is anticipated in concrete construction and for joints between diverse construction materials. FAIRSEAL R has superior joint movement accommodation with strong adhesion to most building materials. It is chemically resistant to water, oils, solvents etc.

PROPERTIES

FORM : Two Part (Base+Hardner=Paste); POT LIFE : 45 min. @ 30^OC; SPECIFIC GRAVITY : 1.5 + 0.015; DURABILITY : Life expectancy is in excess of 20 years; FLAMMABILITY : The cured material burns but does not readily ignite; CURING TIME : 7 to 9 hours initial setting and 3-4 days full cure at 35^OC; TEMPERATURE RANGE : During Application : 5^OC to 45^OC, In Service : -5^OC to 100^OC, Maintenance : When properly applied, FAIRSEAL R does not require maintenance during the service life, PRIMER : FAIRSEAL PRIMER is two part special designed primer to be use with FAIRSEAL R. FAIRSEAL PRIMER ensures very strong electronic bonds between diverce materials.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Prior to the application of the sealant, all joint surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and dried and primed with 'FAIRSEAL PRIMER'. Loose particles, dirt, dust, oil and grease should be removed by vigorous brushing with a wire brush and by
FM-DEGREASER. After the primer is applied, it has to be relatively dry before a sealant can be applied. 

MIXING

FAIRSEAL R two part sealant is supplied as, the base in a pack and hardner (curing agent) in tin, ready for mixing. In order to mix the two compounds thoroughly, it is preferable to use a slow speed electric mixer with suitable blades or paddles with the speed less than 300 RPM. Ensure thorough mixing till a uniform colour is obtained. Failure of the sealant will often occur if it is not completely and thoroughly mixed.

TOOLING & FINISHING

To obtain a smooth surface, the sealant has to be tooled by drawing a flat tool, like a stainless steel spatula, over its surface. After sealing, the tools and equipments must be cleaned with KEROSENE.

SHELF LIFE

It has a shelf life of nine months if properly stored in cool dry conditions at a temperature not exceeding 40^OC to avoid deterioration.

HEALTH & SAFETY

FAIRSEAL PRIMER is highly inflammable liquid, must be stored away from heat. The curing agent contains a heavy metal oxide, contact with the skin should be avoided. Hands should always be washed thoroughly before eating or smoking.
