PRODUCT

SAFECORE AR is a two part, high build, solvent free, epoxy coating, available in three colours, i.e. Red, Green and Grey.

PURPOSE

To provide a durable coating, with high chemical resistance. May be applied at low ambient temperatures.

PACKING & COVERAGE

5 kg pack is sufficient for an area of 10 m2 at the recommended two coat treatment, depending upon surface texture
5 Kg : Consist of BASE and HARDNER.

DESCRIPTION

SAFECORE AR protective coating is based on solvent free, epoxy resins together with selected pigments and thixotrope which enables a substantial film thickness to be applied on vertical surfaces. The cured film is extremely tough and has a smooth, hard, surface but with fairly good slip resistant properties. SAFECORE AR protective coating has excellent adhesion to concrete and metal surfaces, outstanding chemical resistance and is unaffected by oil, grease, petrol etc. It can be used in food processing areas since after curing it is taint free.

PROPERTIES

COLOUR : Red, Green and Grey, POT LIFE : 45 minutes, at 30OC; CURING TIME : at 30OC : 1 day for light foot traffic, 2 days for heavier traffic, 7 days for full chemical resistance TEMPERATURE RANGE : during application : 30OC to 35OC, inservice : -20OC to 70OC, CHEMICAL RESISTANCE : Unaffected by immersion in solutions of : Caustic soda 40%, Hydrochloric acid 36%, Sulphuric acid 50%, Detergent, Petrol and oils, Dilute organic acids. Advice on resistance to other chemicals will be given on request. Please consult our Technical Department for additional information.

WHERE TO USE

SAFECORE AR protective coating provides a tough, hygienic, chemical resistant coating for walls, floors, and ducts in dairies, abattoirs, sewers, food processing areas, etc. (Where floors will receive heavy wear, FAIRSCREED EP epoxy floor screed should be used (see data sheet of FAIRSCREED EP).

HOW TO USE

PREPARATION : Surface should be sound, levelled and free from grease, oil and all loose deposits. Blow-holes and surface defects can be made good with FAIRSCREED VF epoxy putty to facilitate the application of a uniform continuous coating. Vacuum grit blasting or mechanical scrabbling techniques are recommended to ensure optimum adhesion.
PRIMING : SAFECORE AR protective coating has excellent adhesion to concrete so that priming is not necessary. If the concrete substrate is exceptionally porous, a priming coat of SAFECORE WB PRIMER for concrete is recommended, to be applied at a normal rate of 6 m
2/ltr. (Allow a minimum 24 hour dry/cure period before over coating with SAFECORE AR) As regards to steel surface, SAFECORE PRIMER can be applied as priming coat.
MIXING : SAFECORE AR protective coating comprises two components, the resin BASE and the HARDNER, which are supplied pre-weighed in the correct proportions. When required for application the HARDNER should be poured into the can containing the BASE and drained well. Both the components should be thoroughly mixed using a mechanical stirrer, e.g. electric drill with paddle attachment, until the material is uniform in colour.
APPLICATION : SAFECORE AR protective coating should be applied by brush, roller or airless spray to give a continuous film on the prepared surface. The second coat should be applied in a similar manner at right angles to the first coat on the following day. The covering capacity of the coating will vary depending upon the porosity of the surface and the ambient temperature. This will give a final Coating thickness of 400 to 450 micron for a two coat application.
For slip resistance finish - sprinkle 3kg/m
2 SAFECORE ANTI SLIP GRAIN on first coat. On subsequent day clean the excess aggregates and apply second coat on the aggregates.
CLEANING : Equipment should be cleaned with SAFECORE TOOL CLEAN immediately after use.
COMMISSIONING : At ambient temperatures of 30
OC or more, the SAFECORE AR protective coating will have hardened sufficiently in 1-day to allow light traffic, but full abrasion, and acid chemical, resistance will be achieved only after 7 days cure at 30OC.
HANDLING PRECAUTIONS : Cleanliness in handling epoxy resins is essential to prevent skin irritation. Please refer to the SAFECORE SAFE HANDLING GUIDE for detailed recommendations.

SHELF LIFE

Shelf life is 12 months when stored in manufacturer's undamaged sealed conditions, and out of direct sun light at temperatures between 5-40OC.
