DESCRIPTION
SETRELEASE RU is a specially formulated blend of
mineral oils and chemicals having release
properties, which are superior to those of a
conventional mould oil. The chemicals react with
the alkali in the concrete to form a thin water
repellent skin on the surface of the mould,
thereby enabling easy stripping from concrete
and protects steel and wooden formwork.
SETRELEASE RU is supplied as a pale straw
coloured, ready to use liquid. It reacts with
the alkalis and water at the interface of the
concrete and formwork to produce a thin film of
lime soap, which breaks the bond enabling the
formwork to be readily stripped. Excellent off
form finish- produces a clear reproduction of
formwork texture and sharp concrete feature.
RE-USE OF MOULDS
Due to the excellent release properties, little
or no deposit of cement paste remains on the
shutter. Minimum cleaning time & a further coat
of SETRELEASE RU renders shuttering ready for
re-use.
PROPERTIES
SPECIFIC GRAVITY : 0.83 ± 0.2 at 30OC,
SERVICE TEMPERATURE : Suitable for use with
steam cured concrete. FORMWORK SURFACES :
Equally effective on wood or metal moulds and
shutters. NON-STAINING : Does not stain concrete
and can be used safely with white cement to
ensure good finish.
CONCRETE SURFACE
QUALITY
In addition to preventing adhesion of the cement
paste to the mould or shutter face, SETRELEASE
RU allows air, which would otherwise be trapped,
to escape from the face when the concrete is
being poured and vibrated. Pockets of air,
trapped on the shutter faces of concrete are a
major cause of imperfections, necessitating
remedial work. SETRELEASE RU avoids time and
cost for this. The chemical reaction between
SETRELEASE RU and cement in concrete mix
produces a strongly hydrophobic surface. This
ripples surplus water at the interface with the
mould and preserves uniformity of surface
texture and colour.
ECONOMICAL TO USE
On account of high coverage, the applied
cost of SETRELEASE RU compares favorably with
that of conventional mould oil. Considering the
technical benefits additionally obtained, the
overall economy of using SETRELEASE RU can be
significant.
INSTRUCTION FOR
USE
PREPARATION OF NEW MOULDS : No preparation is
necessary but if extensive re-use of Timber
moulds is envisaged, it is advisable to protect
all new surfaces with SETRELEASE RU. For used
moulds, all traces cement must be removed
together with any surface deposits of previous
oils.
COATING : SETRELEASE RU can be applied by brush,
sponge or conventional mould oil-sprayer. If an
oil-sprayer is used, care should be taken to
choose correct size of sprayer. Apply one, thin
and even coat of SETRELEASE RU over the entire
surface. Only the thinnest coating necessary to
achieve effective coverage should be applied.
Excess application is un economical and may lead
to surface dusting. Wire or brush off any excess
particles on the surface and apply one coat of
SETRELEASE RU as before. To remove SETRELEASE RU
completely, for recoating mould or shutter
surface, use strong industrial detergent
together with stiff brushing & then thoroughly
rinse with clean water.
SHELF LIFE
36 months. Stir well before every use.
PACKING &
COVERAGE
1, 5, 10, 50, 100 Ltr drum.
A coverage between 40 to 60 m2/litre
is possible depending upon the porosity and
texture of mould surface.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Use Gloves when handling SETRELEASE RU. Remove
splashes on the skin with soap & water. Avoid
contact with eyes and accidental contamination
should be washed thoroughly with plenty of water
and medical treatment sought immediately. Ensure
good ventilation and do not smoke during use.
Flash point 60OC.
